5 Smart Kitchen Storage Ideas
Having somewhere to store all of your kitchen goodies can be a nightmare. Using any of these DIY kitchen storage hacks can open up your kitchen and give you a lot of extra space.
Kitchen Storage Hack #1: Use mason jars as a utensil holder
Mason jars have proven time and time again how useful they can be for any situation. From storing food to holding air fresheners, having a stack of mason jars around can come in handy. Decorate to match your kitchen décor and place them on the counter. Or, save counter space and hang it on a wall. All you have to do is get a piece of wood that matches the rest of your kitchen, drill a few hose clamps into where you want your jars to hang, and then add your mason jars. This little trick keeps often-used utensils within reach, saving you from the constant digging through drawers to find the right one. PS, it also works great to hold flowers or use in the bathroom for cotton balls, Q-tips, and makeup brushes.
Kitchen Storage Hack #2: Add hanging or wall baskets for produce
Just like your shower caddy helps to free up tub space, hanging baskets can help clear some food off of your counter or island. You can hang it from the ceiling or in the corner of your kitchen with a bracket, three baskets, and a lightweight chain. Don’t forget to paint them the same color as your kitchen!
Or use that extra wall space to keep healthy fruits and vegetables within easy access, but off counters.
Kitchen Storage Hack #3: Use Magazine Holders to Organize Your Freezer
Keeping your freezer in order is a daunting task that even the most meticulous of homeowners sometimes fret over the solution: magazine holders. Yes, cheap office supplies can double as shelves in your freezer, keeping things separated and items visible.
Kitchen Storage Hack #4: Use the Inside of Your Cabinets for Storage
The inside of your cabinet is a canvas waiting to be utilized for creative storage. You can store measuring cups, measuring spoons, candy, and checklists on the insides of your cabinets. All you would need are nails and a long, flat magnet to put on the inside. The best part is that no one will see it but you — and anyone else who decides to rummage through your highly organized cabinet.
And remember those magazine racks from the previous hack? You can also use those inside your pantry or cabinet doors to store things like ziplock bags and tin foil.
Kitchen Storage Hack #5: Make Your Refrigerator a Spice Rack
Our last hack is a lot of fun and will save you a ton of time when cooking. Purchase a set of magnetic tins and put your spices in each one. Make sure you label the outside and boom—you’ve successfully freed up an entire shelf, added color to your fridge, and saved yourself a few minutes when preparing meals.
These are just five of our favorite kitchen hacks for storage that you can incorporate right away. Do you have other kitchen organizing tips for your fellow homeowners? We’d love to hear about them – use hashtag #KitchenStorageHacks and share your ideas!
