Summer Camps in Frisco

By May 21, 2016February 22nd, 2021Judi's Blog

It’s almost that time of year where kids are home from the summer.  They are so excited to be home with nothing to do, until they are not!  When that moment hits, for the sanity of all, it’s best to have plans on hand for how to keep them busy.

We are so lucky to live in a community where there are plenty of options, including summer camps. I have treasured memories of summer camp when I was a child: the people I meet, the activities I did.  Now, your children can too.

Here are just a small number of examples of day camps available this summer in the Frisco area:

Film Making For Fun

This one even I want to sign up for!  In case you have a future Steven Spielberg in the house, this camp is a great choice for you too.  With this specialized program for students ages 9-15, students practice the art of video production and will create a short film in only a week.  Presented by RARE Learning, kids have the opportunity to also learn things like on-air confidence, reading comprehension, research skills, writing skills, video production, editing skills and team work.  Classes average about $150 per course.

Music Institute of North Texas

For the child in the family that has a musical ear,  look no further than the Music Institute of North Texas.  With sessions ranging from 18 months to 18 years, and with around 10 on average in most classes, there is something for everyone.  Not sure what instrument your child might like?  For the younger ones, there is a lesson where they get to try out different types of music.  Or, learn music with a twist with fun classes like Star Wars for Piano/Guitar. There is a mini-recital at the end of the week to see what kids have learned.  Camp sessions are $150 for a one week camp and include an additional supply fee.

Field House USA

Sometimes your kids just need to run around and get moving!  Fieldhouse USA is a great place to let them burn off some of that excess energy.  Whether it is basketball or volleyball, cheerleading or soccer, this program allows you the flexibility to attend and pay only on the days that you choose.  Not sure what sports your child might like?  The All Sports class’s philosophy is not to teach sports skills but to play games!    The camps are available to ages 6 to 13, and classes are divided by age group with over 100 participants expected.  Pricing varies per class and option chosen.

Make Expression

You just might have a future Picasso on your hands you are trying to entertain.  Look no further than the Make Expression art camps.  Make Expression offers unique out-of-the-box mixed media projects each day.  With themed summer camps, attendees might spend one week exploring science, technology, engineering, and math through the use of fused glass, mosaic, collage and clay, and the next week exploring art with ceramics, bubbles, paint chips and more.  Classes are $160 per 4-day course or $45 a day.

These are just a sampling of the cool camps that your child could potentially attend this summer.  If interested in any of these or other camps, I suggest you go ahead and call now; summer will be here before we know it!
