If you are like me, you wake up on the weekend and want a good breakfast or brunch but don’t know where to go. So, here is my list of the most scrumptious breakfasts and brunches in town to help you!

5th Street Patio Café – Located in the heart of downtown Frisco in an old home, 5th Street is well known by local residents for its delicious food and catering. They are so well known, there is usually a line out the door for breakfast, so arrive early (they open at 8am). They are known for everything on the menu (really!)

The Egg & I – There is one in Plano and one in Frisco, so no one has to drive very far. Known for their gourmet coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice and whole wheat pancakes, The Egg & I is a local favorite open 6AM – 2PM only.

Breadwinners – Located in Plano’s Lakeside Village , Breadwinners offers breakfast and brunch options with a full menu. Known for the “breadth” (catch the pun?) of their offerings, the menu includes French Toast, Benedicts, anything and everything including healthy options.

Main Street Bakery – Located in Plano’s popular Shops of Legacy location, Main Street Bakery opens daily at 6:30AM and their tagline is “delicious foods to brighten your day.” One look at the assortment of gourmet baked goods and you will be smiling.

The Original House of Pancakes – With two locations in Plano, you won’t miss what this restaurant is most known for, their pancakes, although they have a full breakfast menu. Just be sure you are at the original!

Le Peep – With a location in Frisco and Plano, breakfast is never too far away and a full pot of coffee will be at your table. Le Peep is not a franchise, all restaurants are locally owned so the company can make sure it delivers on its fresh, simple every day plan.

Stonebriar Café – In Frisco at the NW corner of Legacy and Lebanon near The Frisco Bar I couldn’t even find a web site for this locally owned, single restaurant. The locals rave about the food and service though, so it won’t be a secret for long!

Norma’s Café – Started in Oak Cliff in 1956, Norma’s is a Texas bred restaurant cooking from scratch! They say it was the fluffy biscuits and gravy that got them on the map but they are also known for their Mile High Pies with a local Frisco location, you won’t have far to drive.

Bonnie Ruth’s – Located in Frisco and Allen, Bonnie Ruth’s offers breakfast on Saturday from 10AM – 1PM and brunch on Sundays from 9:30AM – 2PM. The menu changes weekly and always offers a drink special of some type. Don’t worry, no matter what the menu is when you go, one thing is for sure, it will be delicious!

Momma’s Daughters Diner – Specializes in “good ol’ home cooking” at reasonable prices. Located in Plano near Park & Midway you won’t be sorry you visited.

Mexican Sugar – A new arrival to the Shops at Legacy and already a favorite, Mexican Sugar offers breakfast starting at 10AM on Saturday and Sunday where the smell of vanilla cinnamon pancakes is delicious. The habanero pork tacos sound delicious too and they also offer a Mimosa Bar and Micheladas.

Emelia’s Tex Mex – Located very nearby in The Colony (by Walmart), Emelia’s is known for their breakfast tacos. They don’t have a web site and don’t need one apparently! They are known as The Colony’s best kept secret.

The Depot – Located in old downtown Frisco, The Depot is a hidden gem. Bringing back memories of old time Frisco while offering southern style cooking. They offer a full breakfast menu Tuesday – Sunday and are just as busy on Friday nights as they are for breakfast.

Corner Bakery – With locations in Plano and Frisco, Corner Bakery is known for their scramblers, they also offer oatmeal and yogurt dishes for the health minded. On line ordering is available as is catering and all nutrition information.

Café Brazil – Located in Plano, Café Brazil has pioneered a restaurant concept where you can enjoy a great breakfast and a breadth of choices in specialty roasted coffees from around the world in a smoke free, eclectic and fun environment.

Blue Mesa – Located in Plano, Blue Mesa is already well known for their weekend brunch offerings. My favorite is the southwest style eggs benedict but I also love the Caesar salad and dressing. This is a full on brunch with more choices than you can imagine and free Mimosa’s!

Pepper Smash – Located in Plano’s Shops on Legacy location and known more for the unique drink menu, Pepper Smash offers a very eclectic brunch menu including smoked sausage, roasted tomato and green onion cheesecake. Definitely a foodies delight with a very interesting brunch menu.
TruFire – located in Frisco’s Shops of Starwood, TruFire believes “the heart is in the kitchen.” Their unique brunch offering includes Bacon & Eggs Pizza and Bourbon French toast. A gluten free menu is also available.

Sneaky Pete’s – It’s a little drive up the road in Lewisville but Sneaky Pete’s receives rave reviews for their Sunday brunches. Brunch is available from 10AM – 2PM with a different them and full buffet every week. $3 Mimosas and Bloody Marys keep the patrons happy while enjoying beautiful lake views.
