The Colony has come a long way since its inception, boasting Stewarts Creek Park on the lake, Stewart’s Creek Golf Course (along the lake), Hawaiian Falls water park, Top Golf, and a large Grandscape mixed use development which includes Nebraska Furniture Mart, Scheels and many restaurants, hotels, entertainment venues and shops. Originally considered a little city in the middle of nowhere that was a long-distance phone call to Lewisville, The Colony has clearly grown since the 1973 founding to over 46,000 residents in 2021. The Colony is in Denton County and Lewisville Independent School District with the exception of The Tribute. The Tribute is officially located within the City of the Colony although it is in the Little Elm Independent School District.
