Best summer activities and events in Frisco

Ready for some summer fun in Frisco? We’re with ya!  Frisco is a great place to live and play during the summer with lots of activities to do with family and friends. From foodie events and festivals to specialty football and STEM camps, to indoor activities for those hotter months.

 

Are you into sports? As the home of many professional sports teams, there’s also plenty of professional games to enjoy close to home including America’s favorite summer pastime of baseball with our own Frisco Roughriders.

 

So, grab your sunscreen and flip flops and get ready to soak up the fun this summer in Frisco. We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite upcoming summer activities and events, many of which are free!

 

Kick off Summer in May and Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend in Frisco

 

Sat-Sun, May 25-26 – Frisco Fresh Market, Main Street next to Toyota Stadium, Frisco

Frisco’s newest farmer’s market is starting to buzz. Enjoy the outdoor market featuring fresh local produce and meats, plus a wide variety of gourmet foods and specialty products. Events for May 25-26 include Chef Demos and free yoga on Saturday and an informative Bee demonstration on Sunday.

 

Frisco Fresh Market is open every weekend through summer, Saturday from 8 AM – 5 PM, and Sunday from 10 AM – 4 PM. Can’t get enough fresh produce? Also, check out the Frisco Rotary Farmers Market open every Saturday through October from 8 AM to noon. Location for the Rotary Farmers Market is 8821 4th Street behind the Frisco Chamber of Commerce.

 

Sun, May 26 – Crawfish Boil and Jazz Soul Day Party, The Tavern on the Square, Frisco

Enjoy fun in the sun, spicy boiled crawfish, refreshing Hurricane cocktails and live music by DJ Bizzy B in this New Orleans style festival. Tickets start at $20; event kicks off 12:00 PM and runs through 4 pm.

 

Mon, May 27- Frisco Memorial Day Ceremony, Frisco Commons Park

Pay tribute to our heroes with the annual Memorial Day Ceremony held at the Veterans Memorial and Walk of Honor at Frisco Commons Park. The ceremony begins at 9 AM and includes patriotic music, singing, and wreath ceremony.

 

Fun June Events and Activities in Frisco

June 13-16 – Crystal by Cirque Du Soleil, Comerica Center Frisco

The First acrobatic performance on ice, Crystal showcases world-class ice skaters and acrobats in a gravity-defying performance on ice. Ticket prices vary, appropriate for all ages.

 

Sat, June 1 – The Craft Brew and Que Festival 2019, Little Elm Park

Sample craft beers and BBQs along with live music featuring Cody Canada & the Departed along with Zane Williams and Travis Parker. Kid Zone on site, tickets start at $25.

 

Fri, June 7 – Dirk Nowitzki’s 2019 Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game, Dr Pepper Ballpark Frisco

7 PM, join Dirk and some of the biggest names in DFW sports at this celebrity showcase on the diamond. Ticket prices vary.

 

Sat, June 22- Market at the Star in Frisco, The Star in Frisco

A pop-up, open-air market event featuring a curated mix of fashion, jewelry, home décor, and lifestyle goods plus food vendors, entertainment and children’s activities. Free entrance and parking.

 

Sat, June 22 – Soulgood Food Truck: Grow Frisco Festival, Main St Frisco

11 AM – 2 PM, join the pop-up kitchen and food truck festival showcasing plant-based cuisine.

 

Light up July with Frisco’s Freedomfest Weekend

 

Wed, July 3- Dachshund Dash & Hotter ‘n Firecrackers 5K & Glow Run, Simpson Plaza at City Hall Frisco

Join the pre-holiday fun with the ‘Night at the Races’ at Simpson Plaza. The 5K & Glow Run starts at 9 pm and Dachshund Dash starts just before the 5K race. Get there early to stake your spot for the hilarious antics of these 4-legged competitors.

 

July 4th Frisco Freedomfest 2019, Simpson Plaza at City Hall Frisco

Frisco Freedomfest is a fun annual event that brings Frisconians of all ages outdoors to enjoy the sunshine, entertainment, and fireworks in the evening. Events include Party in the Plaza starting at 4 PM which features a wide array of activities for all ages.

 

The Children’s Expo showcases lots of events for kids from bungee ropes to rock walls to face painting and mini-train rides. Children’s activities range from $2 to $6 per activity. The Taste of Frisco features eateries and food concessions from some of Frisco’s favorite restaurants, and don’t forget to stop by the Hometown Hero Exhibit and Vendor Village.

 

For one of the best fireworks displays in the metroplex, stick around for the Frisco Fireworks Extravaganza starting immediately after the FC Dallas game ends. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the show!

 

Best Summer Activities to Enjoy All Summer

Music in the Square– fee outdoor summer concert series on Simpson Plaza lawn, in front of city hall

Friday evenings 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM June 7th through June 28th

  • Bring blankets or chairs and picnic
  • Food vendors and live music

 

June 3-5, Dallas Cowboys Football Academy Youth Camp, Ford Center at The Star in Frisco

9 AM to 3:30 PM, all skill levels, grades 1-6, registration fee applies, includes interactive coaching from former NFL players, team huddle with current players, merchandise and 2 standing room tickets to a Dallas Cowboys preseason game. Additional camps in June, July, and August.

 

STEM Summer Camps at Sci-Tech Discovery Center

Introduce kids to science and technology, explore earth, space, robots, drones and more.  Weekly, 9 AM -4 PM, M-F through August 9th weekly camp fees.

 

Frisco Starfest – Frisco Commons Park, Frisco

Starfest is a great free event where Frisconians come together to gaze at planets, stars, and celestial wonders. Events scheduled for the 2nd Saturday each month from 6-10:30 PM. Next viewing is June 8, 2019.

 

Frisco Water Park – Adjacent to Frisco Athletic Center

Grab your bathing suit and head to this fun water park to cool down this summer. Lots of fun for the whole family and features include slides, wading pools, a lazy river and concessions.

 

Frisco Commons Park – North of Main Street between Dallas North Tollway and Preston

A great place to enjoy nature with over 60 acres of beautiful park area, playgrounds, hiking trails, amphitheater, fishing pier, soccer and lacrosse fields and the beautiful Veteran’s Memorial Plaza.

 

Frisco Heritage Center & Museum – Page Street near Babe’s, just south of Main St, Frisco

Dedicated to the rich history of Frisco, TX, the museum includes fascinating town replicas, city artifacts, and even historic films.

 

National Video Game Museum – Northwest corner of North Dallas Parkway and Eldorado, Frisco

Really like video games? Then, you’ll love this museum dedicated to preserving the history of video games. And, there’s plenty of hands-on game playing allowed. Museum is open 7 days a week except for special events, hours and ticket prices vary.

 

The Star in Frisco – North Dallas Tollway at Warren Parkway, Frisco

Home to the Dallas Cowboys, the Star also has plenty of fun things to do this summer – from shopping and dining to the may events scheduled throughout The Star District and Tostitos Championship Plaza.

 

National Soccer Hall of Fame – Toyota Stadium, Frisco

One of Frisco’s newest gems, the National Soccer Hall of Fame is an amazing experience for soccer fans and includes a wonderland experience full of customizable and interactive moments. Open Wednesday – Sunday, hours and ticket prices vary.

 

Music in the Chamber, George A Purefoy Municipal Center

Tickets $10 for residents, $15 nonresidents, concerts are held in Council Chambers, an acoustically designed space by architects of NYC’s Radio City Music Hall. Upcoming concerts include 5/17/19- Plano Symphony Orchestra Chamber Ensemble and 6/21/19 – Marbriago Trio featuring piano, clarinet, and viola ensemble – all at 8 PM.

 

Get your Summer Sports Fix On – Local Sports Team schedules

Frisco Roughriders– Our Minor League baseball team and AA affiliate of the Texas Rangers. Home games are played at Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco. Enjoy the sunshine and great baseball right here in Frisco.

 

FC Dallas– Frisco’s Major League Soccer team, home games played at Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco.

 

Dallas Rattlers– Our newest professional sports team, the Dallas Rattlers are a Major League Lacrosse (MLL) professional men’s field lacrosse team. Opening day is June 2nd at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco.
