Lewisville is located North of Carrollton and Coppell, East of Flower Mound on the Southern shores of Lake Lewisville just 25 miles from Dallas. The city is known for its outdoor activities (boating, hiking, camping, fishing, etc.) due to its close proximity to Lake Lewisville and its 29,000 acres of water with tons of shoreline.
Lewisville is also very convenient to DFW Airport and that has drawn businesses and homeowners alike for its convenient access. The city is home to Vista Ridge Mall, a bustling mall that draws shoppers from all around and numerous restaurants. The City is also served by the highly rated Lewisville Independent School District, one of the largest school districts in the State of Texas. The districts first high school mascot is proudly known as the Fighting Farmers.
Home to the largest Purple Martin roost in North Texas, the city web site estimates that 50,000 birds return here to nest each year, hence the City logo with the purple Marlin bird on it.
The city incorporates golf courses, a vibrant old downtown area, featuring the Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater that offers lives shows year round; a rustic rodeo arena for the Western Days Festival held every September which is a nod to the city’s farming and cowboy past; a 2,000 acre nature preserve (Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area) on the shores of Lake Lewisville, and for golfers in addition to the courses around town, there is even a Hank Haney Golf Ranch at Vista Ridge.
