The Financial Performance chart entries highlight how each district spends money on students based on the income they receive. Texas Smart Schools is an initiative by TsSmartSchools.org based on the foundational work of the Financial Allocation Study for Texas (FAST) launched by Susan Combs during her tenure as Texas Comptroller. The Texas Smart Schools rating is a figure between one and five stars based on academic progress and spending. The highest rating of five stars indicates the most vigorous academic progress combined with the lowest relative expenditures.
